Why is discipleship important?
Jesus commanded it.His last words are important. In the Great Commission, Jesus commanded each of us to “make disciples of all nations.” Whatever we are doing and wherever we are – we are directed to take Jesus with us.
Jesus modeled it.Jesus’ own example of how he lived his life points the importance of doing so. He invested in twelve men over the course of three years of his earthly ministry. He taught them, He trained them and eventually sent them off to share with others.
Investment leads to growth. When we minister to someone in need, not only are their needs being met, but we also experience our own personal growth. When as a Christian, we share our personal testimony, those listening have an opportunity to respond all while growing ourselves. We seek to be like the Sea of Galilee where things are healthy and grow…water flows in and out. We grow when we give and invest in sharing with others for the glory of God!
