Child Sponsorship

Sponsoring a child gives…
Hope for a better, brighter tomorrow!

Your monthly sponsorship of $40, $80 or $120 per month will change the life of a child in Uganda.  We understand that giving money monthly to a child you may never physically meet is a big ask – which is why as Founders and staff members of HGM, we take seriously the role that God has laid on each of us to be good stewards of the finances given towards sponsorship.

We are committed to helping you build a relationship with the child you support.  Your child will rely on your monthly support to attend school. They will look forward to writing you letters, sharing their academic progress, and telling you all that God is doing in their life.
HGM’s educational sponsorship program focuses on the needs of children at all stages of development: early childhood, basic education, adolescence, and youth. We are committed to seeing each child who is enrolled in the HGM program graduate and receive their diploma.

Here’s how we do it…

Locate those in needOur local team, in Uganda, interviews children and families from high-poverty and high-risk areas who are not attending school and meet the criteria set forth by HGM.

Value commitmentAfter enrollment, our sponsorship recipients must remain in good standing with the HGM guidelines (including our mission, vision and core values).

Child sponsorshipEach HGM sponsorship recipient receives the following:

  • School tuition
  • School requirements
  • Uniform and shoes
  • Backpack and school supplies

Frequently Asked Questions
What does is mean to sponsor a child?

When you say “yes” to sponsoring a child, you enter a supportive relationship with the child.  You can provide financial support to this child for their educational needs through your partnership.

What can you tell me about the children?

Many of the children in our program have lost one or both parents – either due to illness/disease or sadly, because the parent has chosen not to raise the child.  It is not uncommon for a child to be living with a close relative (Aunt, Grandmother, etc) or even a neighbor who has not taken on the guardian role.  Many of the children in our program are living in a household with their single mother and siblings.

When you select a child to sponsor, or when one is chosen for you, you will be provided with background information specific to that child.

How do I know that the money I send supports the child I sponsor?

Our HGM team works directly and closely with each child in the program.  Your monthly sponsorship fee is specific to your child and payment goes directly to their school at the beginning of each term.  Our in-country team tracks each child’s academic progress by reviewing their report cards each term. We also have regular one-on-one meetings with each child and conduct regular “home visits” to ensure that receiving proper care in a safe, healthy environment.

What does my monthly sponsorship fee cover?

Your monthly sponsorship will go towards all school-related expenses including tuition fees, school requirements and supplies, a school uniform and shoes, meals provided at school as well as school transportation in some cases.

What do I get when I sponsor a child?

When you sponsor a child through HGM, you will have the opportunity to send and receive letters from your child as well as updated photos of your child.  There will also be opportunities for you to send a small gift, letters, photos, etc. to your child based on the timing of our visits to Uganda.
